I've neglected my blog and all the others that I read for a week or so now. It's been busy here and now I can relax and maybe compose some thoughts that make sense.
My mother in law is getting "forgetful" and it scares me. She forgets her insulin, forgets the doctor made changes, etc. We have put her pills in one of those pill thingys' so it can be checked to make sure she takes them every day, but her insulin is another problem. She "thinks" she has taken it, but then is not really sure. I've made her a chart with when how much and what she is to do throughout the day....first she had had it buried on the table, now we've made her put it on the front of the fridge, but she has to look at it and do it. Not sure what we are going to do next.
My ex brother in law died on Labor Day, he wasn't well liked by the family, but Jim and I never had any issues with him. We still did the Christmas greetings with him and occasional emails during the year.
Then on Thursday one of my mom's friends passed away. Evie was 85 years old and what a woman. Raised her children, worked in the Emergency Room at our hospital as a clerk for more years than I care to count. She sang with the Sweet Adelines with my mom. She knitted wonderful things, like Rob's Christmas stocking that I still use to this day. It's green with a Santa face on it and lined in red. All knitted. She helped her daughter run her dance studio for years. Evie will be missed by many.
Cooking this week, BLT's with fresh tomatoes. Peanut butter bars with melted chocolate chips and crushed nuts on top, Pork chops with sliced onions, A1 sauce, touch of butter wrapped in foil and cooked on the grill...YUMMY.
Making plans for Shannon-- her 2nd birthday is Monday, they are having a party in Boston next weekend that we are going out for and then bringing her back here for a week. The balloon festival will begin while she is here, think we'll take her up to see the big colorful hot air balloons.
Good news, my late friend Julie's daughter is expecting!!! T. will be due in the spring. I wish Julie was here but the baby will be surrounded with LOVE. Ryan, her almost 3 yr. old, is funny--he lifts T.'s shirt so he can talk to the baby. He wants a sister, he'll teach her to throw a ball. Kids they are so funny.
Jim was busy this week, he scrubbed my downstairs bathroom top to bottom, mopped and vacuumed floors. What a help he is.
My sister in law will arrive from Florida in a couple weeks, she is staying with us and my niece is also coming with her male friend, but they are staying at her friend's home. It'll be nice to see them again.
HUGS to all and my prayers are with our military and those in the path of the hurricanes and tropical storms.

Hi Karen,
Nice to see you again - I know the feeling about not blogging for days on end. But it's always so good to catch up.
Sympathy Karen on the loss of your former brother in law-it's not easy when there are issues like that. And I am also sorry to hear about Jim's mom - forgetfulness is a painful thing to deal with for EVERYONE. But I know that you are a patient lady..this will be a blessing to her as time goes by.
God bless you my friend.
Hugs to you and Jim.
Sue
