Been watching the Food Network today, they are doing Thanksgiving. Got some great ideas. It'll be small at my house this year--just Jim and I, his brother and mother. I bought my turkey this morning. Was going to get a turkey breast but they were so expensive, I bought a small turkey instead.
Jim has left for the movies--he and John are going to see the new Bond movie. I have a job interview tonight at 5:30pm--wish me luck. Just a part time job to help fill in the gaps and give us some spending money.
I was at my sisters last night, it was my brother in law's birthday and needed to sun a card over there. We got to talking about cooking, as usual. She's a great cook and even better baker. She decided not to go to the chocolate cooking class with me, she only wanted the truffle part and I can give her that when I get home. I do have to buy her a stainless steel small strainer though while I'm there. I also need the rings you put around a pie to keep the edges from burning.
It's this time of year that I miss my mom the most. Without her around, the family goes it separate ways--no more HUGE dinners. Not as much baking being done. She would start her Christmas baking now--she made mountains of cookies, fudge, breads, etc. I've actually started some of mine since I'm taking a week off before Christmas this year--I took the week of Christmas off. So that leaves me weekends only and if I get this part time job even those will be cut into. Not sure what else I'm going to make -- some spritz cookies, snowballs, fudge, some candy.
Raining here, dreary--good day for baking. There's a stew in the crock pot for dinner.
Have a great weekend.
