Vacation as fun, weather was great, we had rain 2 nights but days were hot and for the most part sunny.  Lots of swimming, went on a gondola ride up Little Whiteface Mtn, hiked then river rafted down the Ausable chasm.  We had lots of fun.  S'mores with chocolate and peanut butter cups.  My cousin Andy and his wife came over for dinner one night since they live up there. I'll do pictures later.
Now for my good news.  Wednesday when I got home I was offered a new position in another department.  I had an interview the last day I worked.  The salary was a little lower so the manager went to HR and they did raise it, still a slight pay cut but managable.  My current director is not happy.  She called me yesterday, asked what she could do to change my mind and in the end I told her I needed to make this change.  I will be scheduling for a doctor in the Cancer Treatment Center at the hospital.  Not sure when I will start -the paperwork has to be done for the position change.  I haven't been happy with my new supervisor, she's a wonderful person, but does not have enough experience to  do the job.  My only concern is that the Training and Education dept not fail with no one in there with experience and knowledge.  It's a needed department but we will see what happens.
HEAT WAVE here, heat index to 103 + today.  I hate this kind of weather -- can't breath, guess we'll be inside again today, spent most of yesterday inside.  Tomorrow I have to take Shannon back.
More later, she's up and moving, need to get her breakfast.

Hi Karen,
Glad you had such a great vacation! I can only imagine how much Shannon enjoyed it and how much more you and Jim enjoyed it having her along. When you work all year for this summer vacation, it's good that you have a good time and the weather co-operates for the most part. Ausable Chasm - oh my gosh, we went to the Adirondacks when the kids were little - it was beautiful.
CONGRATULATIONS on the new position, and on the fact that they upped the pay so it wouldn't be a dramatic drop for you. Sometimes the peace of mind is worth more than the $$ and it says a LOT that your current director wanted to keep you. Wishing you lots of luck and many prayers - it's always a bit stressful to begin a new job, but it sounds like a good fit for you. I hope your current department takes the hint from you and is able to provide training for the staff there.
I am sure you must be missing Shannon....
Hugs to you and Jim,
Sue
