On a sad note, we've lost another local soldier. He was a newlywed and had done 15 months in Iraq and was now on a 2nd deployment in Afghanistan. They brought his body home today to a Hero's welcome.....people lined the streets as they brought him from the airport to the funeral home. The wake is Wednesday. My prayers are with his family. We are several small communities here and we have been lucky--since the start of the war we have only lost about 6 soldiers....but it touches us all deeply when we do. I just keep praying, have a nephew and quite a few friends with children deployed to one sandbox or the other.
On a good note, I'm getting excited--pick up Shannon on Saturday and get to see my son for a few hours. Vacation is almost here. I'm more than ready. Things are happening at work that I'm not happy about but can do nothing to change so it's time for a break.
