2 more weeks and Shannon will be with us for 2 weeks. I can hardly wait. Been shopping, getting ready for the trip to the St Lawrence Seaway. What an awesome place. We've been there once before and this time we are going with families who have never been there. The Eisenhower Dam, Boldt Castle, 1000 Islands, and so much more. I love watching the tankers come through the seaway in the early morning as the fog lifts off the water. When everyone else gets ready to come home, we will stay on a couple days to see Bop -- an honorary uncle who summers up there. Bop is going to be 95 on the 18th. What an amazing man. Still builds gorgeous doll houses for the great grands...his grands are grown now. I'm hoping to get one for Shannon. What works of art they are. His oldest daughter and my mom were best friends, so we continue to share what time we can together.
Rainy weekend here, not a good weekend for Americade, the motorcycle rally and LARAC, the arts and crafts festival. I went this morning for a little bit while it was only misting out but since I'm saving for vacation didn't see anything I couldn't live without. Did hit the library book sale though--a bag of books for $3.00. Since my bag wasn't full they only charged me $2.00 and I had 5 hard covers and 1 paperback in there. What a deal. They do this 3 times a year. Friday evening and all day Saturday the books are priced differently but on Sunday it's by the bagful.
Not much else going on here. Baked a new cake yesterday...yummy.....a yellow cake with a little mint extract and when it's cool you poke holes in it and pour chocolate pudding over it then spread cool whip mixed with mint extract and green food coloring. What a treat.
Last weekend I made homemade cookies and cream ice cream. My kitchen aid mixer has an ice cream bowl attachment so it's easy but expensive and not on anyone's diet with 8 egg yolks, heavy cream and half n half in it. Made great brownies sundaes with it.

On a sad note, my prayers are with all the families affected by the flash floods in Arkansas the other day. How terrible.

Have a great week all. Hugs to all.

Karen,
I remember visiting the 1000 Islands with my family - I was about 12 and we had a great time. We went to Boldt Castle and had an awesome boat ride on the St. Lawrence. We were only there for a few days but had a wonderful time.
You must be so excited about Shannon - two whole weeks! Hope you manage to get a doll house. What a special man Bop must be.

Don't work too hard getting ready for the trip - just look forward to the fun.
Blessings my friend and hugs to you and Jim.
