Almost Christmas....guess I'm ready, except for the cooking. Last night the families we camp with had "Chili Night". What a great time and as usual--we ate well. Started with wing dip, had chili, herbed monkey bread, cornbread casserole, brownies, cookies, Italian wedding cookies, wine, beer, soda, and I can't remember what else. I just know we all ate way toooo much. The kids all got little gift bags with a holiday container filled with candy, except for Cheyenne who got her T shirt that she loved. I put together little holiday pails with my cookies and candies that I have been making all week for the adults. Jim got surprised with a gift also. They got him a deer head that has a motion sensor in it and sings Christmas songs along with a Certificate of Achievement for the Bah Humbug Award and actually decorating this year for Christmas. It's signed by Clark Griswold. He has now hung it by the front door.
Tonight is the Sheriff's Department Christmas Party. It'll be nice to see faces we don't see alot anymore, but I know we won't have as much fun as we did last night.
I've decided not to cook Christmas dinner this year. I always do and then Jim and I end up eating it for a week. We have snacks out all day--swedish meatballs, little hot dogs in BBQ sauce, pigs in a blanker, bacon wrapped olives, chips, dips, cookies, brownies, homemade candies, sausage cream cheese herb crescents, and more....so who needs dinner. I am doing lasagna rolls on Christmas Eve when the kids are here.
We have to go to my brothers home this year for a bit..he has a surprise and though I know what it is I can't say anything else cause I'm not sure who in the family reads my blog and don't want to spoil his surprise. I can't wait though--it'll be great.
My dishwasher is broke--has been for a couple months now. It just wasn't something I needed replaced right away as there are only 2 of us home now and I don't mind washing dishes. It's only on Thanksgiving and Christmas that it matters. My mother in law bought us a new one, it'll be here on Wednesday. I don't want to seem un-appreciative but I really wanted the portable ice maker for camping season. We borrowed the one across the street when we went to Maine and never bough ice for the cooler the whole time we were there. With the camper I only use the cooler for beverages. That ice maker was the greatest invention.
Well off to record my story. I bought one of those Hallmark recordable books for Shannon. T'was the Night Before Christmas. Had a coupon and it's been sitting here on my desk waiting for me to get to it.
Have a great weekend everyone. Stay safe and warm.

Merry Christmas Karen. I hope you and your family have a wonderful Christmas.
Now, about that portable ice maker. Do you have dogs? If so, don't they need to buy you something for Christmas.
Today my wonderful two dogs bought me a portable tv for when I am sitting outside the RV camping. They even wrapped it and put it under the tree!
Betsy
Betsy, we have 2 cats, and I totally forgot, now I wonder if I can get it here in time for them to wrap it...LOL. There's always Valentine's Day...teehee
