I've been neglecting my blog.....Work has been so busy and the holidays aren't helping. We are in the process of putting a new computer system in at work, that's supposed to make life easier, does everything from registration to scheduling and billing. We started "Simulation testing" on Monday and today was my short day, only 9 hours. Monday I was there for almost 12 hours and then 11 yesterday. The rest of the week should be normal 8 hour days. I have to say that it's going smoother than expected, the interfaces are working for the most part and if they didn't they have been easily fixed. But boy was it busy and confusing for a while. In the midst of this the holiday party and cookie exchange at work is being planned and though I wanted to opt out of the cookie swap, I got drafted cause every one who participates loves my moms recipes for Viennese Rounds, they are like a pecan shortbread with raspberry jam sandwiched between 2 cookies and then iced with a pink swirl. Jim offered to bake them but he works Monday and Tuesday and the swap is on Wednesday. Guess what I'm doing this weekend?
My mother in law is behind in her shopping and wants to know every night what I'm making for Christmas dinner...jeez it's still almost 2 weeks away, I have no clue...besides I'm gonna end up doing 2 dinners, one when the kids come over the weekend before Christmas and then again Christmas Day......she's retired, and I have to plan dinner....It's not that I mind, I love to cook, when I have time, but this year I'd love some help and I'm not going to get it. Though she did offer to pick up pies at the local pie shop if I didn't want to order a cheesecake. I'm thinking finger foods on Christmas Day and I'll do dinner over the weekend. I am on vacation starting next Wednesday, but I still need to bake some more cookies and breads, and make my homemade candies. Thankfully my shopping is done except for groceries.
In the midst of this Jim has decided to get back to work on our bedroom (about time) he's painted what woodwork he can, some will have to wait till spring when we can take the windows out and get them painted. The walls now have a second coat of color on them, he has to fix the floor with floor leveler stuff where a wall was taken out and there's no hardwood floor there. Then get a carpet up there, the closet doors hung, and cut off the bottom of the bedroom door cause it won't open with carpet there. Then we can move in again. It's been 3 or 4 years in the making and worth the wait but why December????? Oh wells, as long as the spirit is moving him I won't complain to him.
Time for bed, HAPPY HOLIDAYS everyone.

Hi Karen,
Floor leveler stuff? Is that an official carpenter's term? Tee hee.
Sounds like you have your plate full - overflowing actually. I hope that you get everything done without getting worn out.
I was talking to someone at work today - we were talking about the new computer system that we are getting within 2 years. He said it's going to be a nightmare. I said 'not for me' and he asked why.
Simple - it's called retirement. The closer I get the more excited I am...I just haven't figured out how I am going to leave my job behind - not to mention the people I love who I work with.
Blessings my friend - take good care.
love and hugs...
