It's been a busy week for me. Work has been a push to get things done so the company providing our new computer system can take it down on Monday and wipe the data base so we can go into simulation testing and make sure everything works as it should.
On Wednesday I went out to go to work and my car had died.......the transmission was going, we knew but our mechanic told us it wasn't worth the money to get it fixed. Would be at least $1500.00. The car was 14 years old. I had bought it from my brother when they went to a slightly bigger and new car for my sister in law. It had over 100,000 miles on it when I got it. But I've had it for almost 7 years and it's been good to me. We haven't put much money into it until this year, and we discovered I've only put 20,000 miles on it in the time I've owned it. So after Jim taking me to work all week, it was do we lease, do we buy another used clunker, or what? We already have truck payment (which is why I work full time)--after having no car payments for 10 years do we want 2 of them? Yesterday we went looking, our mechanic had found us a used care from a man who is now in assisted living, but I wasn't sure I wanted to go that route again, it had over 100,000 miles on it also. So we went out strongly thinking about leasing one as I really only need one for about another 5 years. Then we hope with the truck and house paid off I can do part time or perdiem again so we can travel and we wouldn't need 2 vehicles. I found a used car, only 3 years old with a warranty and payments that I can afford. This will be the newest car I've ever owned. That's a big thing to me. Almost 50 and always had old used cars. So now we have 2 car payments again.
Jim's part time security job has been reduced from 3 nights/week to 2 nights/week. Not a big deal in the scheme of things except it pays for his race tickets, our vacations, and the extras. The money isn't included in our budget but it does help for the "toys" he likes to get now and then.
God Bless our troops, please pray for them no matter what your position on the war is. I still have friends with children going over and Thank you Lord, children coming home.

Hi Karen,
Good to see you back...I hear you about the busy part at work. If it's not one thing, it's another.
How are Shannon and her mommy and daddy?
Sorry to hear about your car...we are down to one vehicle now since Ron sold his truck and our trailer. Hopefully Ron can get another vehicle soon since he needs to take Scott to work every day...so he takes me to work and picks me up and Scott gives us some $$ for gas when he can. These vehicles - a necessary evil.
God bless your week my friend - happy that you have a "new" car. Drive it in safety (but mostly watch the other guy).
Hugs and love to you and Jim.
