Shannon our wonderful grandaughter will be 1 soon, we are having acookout at the campstie tomorrow for her birthday, it's hard to believe she'll be a year old. It's harder for me to believe somedays that her daddy is old enough to make babies, wasn't it just the other day I was having his first birthday party? This is her "Hollywood" look. She's walking and trying to talk and oh so into everything.
Well summer is almost over--it's the start of Labor Day weekend. We went out to dinner last night with 3 other couples who will all soon be taking off for regions much warmer than the great north east. One couple is headed to Arizona for the winter and the other 2 for Florida. They are all "work campers" which means they work at a campground and get their site and hookups for free and sometimes even a small paycheck, depends on what they worked for a deal. They all live in their RV's year round. Jim would like to do that, I'm not so sure I want to be that far away from our grand daughter and other family just yet. But it'll be about 5 years before we can even think about seriously so we'll see. After we got back from dinner we sat around the campfire and watched the park fill up--there were over 100 campsites reserved for the weekend, the 2 on duty were going nuts last night--people not liking their sites, thought they included cable TV and they don't, and of course my favorite--I can't get my RV on that site !! I love watching them, sometimes it's a great show. Like the Canadian people a couple weekends ago, they pulled their 28ft. camper into the site and when it came time to leave the next day-they couldn't get out. They ended up backing out of the pull through site into the site across the way from them, took them 18 turns and 25 minutes to get that camper into the road so they could leave. What a show !! The tenters across the way the other day--everything came out the boxes brand new, finally got the tent up and the EZ up standing and lit the new Weber grill under the EZ up with charcoal lighter and WHOOSH went the nylon EZ up.....no one was hurt but the EZ up, so down to Wal-Mart they went and bought another one after they finally got dinner cooked and the burnt melted mess of nylon thrown away. Thunderstorms rolled in that night and they got WET--they left the next day and left everything there...so one of the work campers ended up taking it all down and their son now has a new tent, cooler, grill, etc. They only took their clothes with them, guess they won't be camping again. It's supposed to be a beautiful weekend here, a little cool at night (40 tonight) but that's what campfires are for.
ENJOY everyone. My prayers are with all, especially my military mom friends.
