Fall cleaning.....spent last weekend on the living room and dining room. The dining room isn't done yet but close. All the windows are washed and everything is dusted and vacuumed. Now to clean out the huge china cabinet and sell it. It's too big and I want the space back. There is a smaller one that was Jim's moms and I will take that once the other one is gone. Today we started on the basement. We have overflowing trash barrels and have to wait for trash day to refill them again. But on a good note we threw a lot of stuff out. Still some stuff for yard sale or re gifting but a lot has gone. I have 3 or 4 totes I need to go through but am making progress. Next is all the Christmas boxes. There must be 15 totes of that stuff down there. Need to weed it out.
Jim's mom got admitted to the hospital on Monday. She couldn't stand or walk. She's been very unsteady on her feet but has refused a walker for months now. So she only walks the 3or 4 steps to the bathroom and 15 steps to the dining room. I'm sure it's just muscle atrophy from lack of use. But this has sealed her fate--it's nursing home placement now as the assisted living facility can't take care of her like this. So as much as she thinks she's healthy enough to go home she can't. We are working on the applications and paperwork to get this done.
Christmas shopping is next on my list, I've started and pretty much know what I want to buy just need to do it. Shannon is my only guessing game--not sure what to get her this year. Olive needs clothes, Rob wants flannel lined jeans from LL Bean for work.
HUGS to all. Stay safe if you are in Hurricane Sandy's path.

Karen,
I'm tired just reading about all you are doing/have done. Fall housecleaning is kind of going on here except that I am doing it from the other people who lived here. It's not too bad, but there are a lot of dust bunnies. Then we'll paint...I like to paint over clean surfaces.
How awesome that you have all this done including some of your Christmas shopping.
Blessings my friend, and take life a little easier when you are done cleaning.
Hugs,
Sue
