These are the flowers my co-workers from Patient Access gave me when I left. Don't you love the front side with "dog" in them? I've been in my new job for 2 weeks now, it's going well. I observed for a couple days and then since then have been doing it myself with my trainer with me. One of the girls is going out for surgery the week before I go on vacation so I will be sitting in her place and doing it all. I'm enjoying it. Different kind of busy but no tension and very little stress. The docs are great, they take time with me since they know I'm new.
Hurricane Irene.....hitting the Carolina's now--heading north. We are expected to get 4-6 inches of rain and up to 60 mph winds here. I'm ready. Flags and small windchimes are down, yard is picked up of everything that could fly, water put aside, camper filled with water so we can shower should we lose power for a day or two, water in jugs for the house, ice made, coolers ready in case they have to be filled with stuff from fridge, propane filled in the camper so I can use that fridge. Only thing I can't find is D cell batteries for the flashlights -- no one in 2 counties has had any for 3 days now. Have candles, kerosene lamps and small flashlights so we will be fine. Stay safe everyone in the path of this storm. We have set up phone #'s for our military moms in the path so they can let someone know they are OK if they lose power, my friends and I have the same deal. Cell #'s abound because text messages will get out even if phone and power is out.
The governor has put thousands of our National Guard on call--mainly for NYC area but they will need them. My hospital is ready--supplies for over the 96 hours mandate that is required. Generators were tested yesterday just to make sure. Our generator is full and ready if we need it, will run the camper.
We are going to Boston next weekend to celebrate Shannon's birthday a little early with Rob and Lauren and possibly her parents. Then the following weekend we have 4 different events we were invited to--Shannon's party at Kristine's, a surprise birthday party for 2 friends--one is 80 and his son in law is 50, an end of summer party, an informal wedding.......then the weekend after we leave for Maine. Busy month.
Stay safe everyone, my prayers are with all.

Hi Karen,
Boy, when you prepare, you prepare! Hoping no damage at all there.
Sounds like you've got a busy month coming up...although these days, don't they ALL seem busy? But birthday parties are great and you get to celebrate with Shannon twice. How nice.
The flowers are beautiful and it sounds like you are getting right into your new job with no problems. Not that we expected any!
Enjoy all those trips and parties and make sure you take some time to relax - I think the trip to Maine is just the right ticket for that!
