Memorial Day weekend

It was a memorable Memorial Day weekend of camping.  On Friday we got up there and it was overcast, thunderstorms and rain Friday night.  Saturday we got torrential downpours, hail, thunder, lightning and then flooding......Roads all around the cmapground washed out, poor campers on the lower end of the campground were flooded.  The 2nd picture is the sites we usually have---glad we moved this year. We got wet but nothing like they or the ones even lower got.  People got their campers out (some barely) and left lots of stuff--it was either floating or under the water.  Scavengers were out Sunday morning picking through the debris.  Firewood, tables, sleepingbags, tents, grills, etc.  3 campers were still there Sunday night--ground too soft to get them out.  Some have considerable damage--water inside.  Some set high enough they were ok once out of there.  Playground was flooded as you can see, kids had a great time sliding into the water.
I have lots more pics but you get the idea of what happened.  There were mudslides around us covering roads, roads just washing away, lots of flooding, we had no power or water for awhile....water finally came back after about 4 hours but no power till almost 5 am Sunday.   Sunday was a great day--spent it in the pool.  And of course packing and coming day today was gorgeous.

Because this is Memorial Day, please take a minute to remember those who gave their lives to protect our freedom.
HUGS to all

Hi Karen,
I was thinking of you this weekend, knew you'd be camping but didn't know that you would have that much fun! Just kidding of course...glad that you were in better spots and stayed a bit dryer.
Hope next camping weekend goes better. It's really a shame so many people were flooded.
Hugs to you and Jim,
Sue
