MEMORIES

4 years ago today my best friend Julie passed away.  She was just about a month shy of her 50th birthday.  I miss her so much.  She fought breast and ovarian cancer and never let it get her down.  When Rob was in Iraq, she was the best medicine for me--kept me focused and always lifted my spirits. The last night I spent with her she and I had a good talk, said our goodbyes.  I made my promises to her about the Christmas ornament to her only grandson--I know keep that promise with the granddaughter she has never met also.  There are many days I still pick up the phone to call her about something.......guess I always will.

The first picture is of Julie sitting next to Kristine at the baby shower I had when she was pregnant for Shannon-it's one of the last pictures I took of her,  the other is her daughter's wedding the fall before she died.  The dragonfly picture is because those were hers..we all have something--I have my lighthouses, she had her dragonflies.

Julie was just one of those people who always had a wonderful attitude --  no matter what was happening in her own world.  The Tim McGraw song "Live like you were dying" says pretty much how Jules lived her life.

Love you Julie and Miss you so much.

Karen,
I remember the years you struggled with Julie's illness, and then her death.
But you celebrate her life so beautifully as well. I feel as though I knew her - and am thankful that even though I never met her, I have something in common with her. That something is you, my friend. We never really miss those we've lost any less, but we do appreciate the memories more, and as long as we have those, picking up the phone to call them will never seem out of the ordinary.
I agree with Betsy-beautiful tribute for a beautiful lady.
Hugs my friend,
Sue
