Vacation

Well we are home, it was a great vacation until the end. We were about 15 miles from home on I-87 when we heard a POP, then the windshield was being sprayed with fluid. Jim got to the side of the road as soon as he could and shut the truck down just as steam came rolling out from under the hood. I called our mechanic and he said he'd be there, hitch was we were towing the camper and he had to find someone with a truck that could tow that home for us. His brother Jay to the rescue. Our camper was a little heavy for his truck but we all made it home. 95 degrees and poor Shannon kept asking when we are getting we home......took Pete and Jay bout 35 minutes to get to us and hook us all up. By the time we got dropped off we were all wringing wet from sweat but safe. Jim borrowed the neighbors truck to retrieve the camper from the repair lot and empty what was packed in his truck. Last night we just emptied that truck and the necessities out of the camper. We were just to tired and hot.
The first few days of camping were warm during the day and cool at night, overcast some of the time, from Friday on it was 80-90's. We went to Alexandria Bay one day and did a boat tour of the 1000 Islands and Boldt Castle, one day was spent walking around the town of Clayton. At the campground we had the pool and playground to ourselves until the holiday weekend. That was nice. Our campsites backed up to the pool and playground so that was wonderful for the kids and for us--didn't have to leave to watch them. Friday we found a mile Go Kart track and the guys really wanted to do that so off we went, and everyone did it except Shannon and me. They had a blast. On Saturday we went back to Clayton to watch the fireworks--they did them from an island so that was cool. Shannon fell asleep in Jim's lap just as they started though. On Sunday we all packed up and everyone else went home, without a mishap. We went a few miles up the road to my aunt's "camp". Her dad (95 yrs young) is there for the summer. Bop had made a doll house for Shannon, he does wonderful work. He's there with a granddaughter in law Kristin. It's right on the St Lawrence River, Shannon and I swam every day because it was HOT. Jim was helping get the rest of the camp opened for the rest of the family to start arriving tomorrow. What a place, nicer than my home. The main camp has 3 bedrooms and huge great room with the river wall all glass. The there is an apartment over the garage with 2 bedrooms, a living room and small kitchenette with a bar sink, toaster oven, microwave and small fridge and full bath. We had a lot of fun and it was great to visit with Bop again. We spent from Sunday till Tuesday about noon there.
Now we are home and Shannon is here for a couple more days, will take her home over the weekend.
Jim downloaded the pictures we took but I can't find the folder, when I do will post a few.

Karen,
What great photos - and it sounds like you had a wonderful time. Shannon is getting so big - it must have been a great trip for you all. It's a shame about the truck incident but you are all safe and this is what counts.
What great memories you must have now.
Hugs my friend,
Sue
