It's been very quiet here for a couple days. Jim left on Wednesday, flying to Florida to his sisters for her daughters wedding. Jim is giving Meghan away since her father decided he couldn't make the trip--that's another story, but I hope he doesn't expect much from her in the future. Even the cats are missing him--RC has slept with me and he never does that. Our friends are keeping me company. On Wednesday Rick and daughter Cheyenne showed up and we got take out for dinner. Last night I had to bake a cake for work and it was rainy and miserable here. Tonight Pat and Gail took me to the fish place and I had a delicious Blacked Swordfish.

Megan and Aaron are getting married tomorrow on the beach in Florida--praying for warm weather and sunshine. They make a cute couple and I wish them every happiness. I found a great gift (at least I think it is) at the Hallmark store here. It's a silver bell with hearts on it. Named the make up bell, one of the couple should always ring it when having a disagreement. It's to signal an end to the disagreement and time to make up and says the same person should not be the one to ring it every time. I will post a pic or 2 of the wedding when I get them.

I had the scare of a lifetime today. I came home from work and got on facebook, was reading down through the days postings and I saw some disturbing ones from Rob. Something about a possible explosion and his family in danger and someone dying in the house he used to live and Kristine and Shannon still do. I picked up the phone to find out what was going on. Seems the landlords father was living in the basement of that home and decided to commit suicide, but he was planning on taking all the families with him. There are 3 floors -- his grown grandchildren live on the first floor, Kristine and Shannon on the 2nd and a family on the 3rd floor. He opened all the gas valves in the basement and lit a candle during the night. Sometime early this morning someone noticed the smell and beat on all the doors to empty the house.....when the fire company arrived they found the man dead in the basement and gas levels that were near to levels of exploding. Thankfully no one else was injured or died. Rob is very upset to think he almost lost his daughter and her mother because some fool didn't want to live anymore. WHY would anyone do something like that--it's one thing to end your own life but take innocent people with you, even your own family members. Shannon, thankfully has no clue what happened other than they made her get out of bed and leave her home before sunrise this morning. I talked to her for a bit--cartoons were taking first place over Nana today after we got past the "can I go camping with you and papa and ride my scooter" part. After I got off the phone I THANKED GOD for sparing all those innocent people. Their guardian angels were on the job!!!!

Have a great weekend everyone. I have to get ready for Jim's birthday on Tuesday. He flies home that day. I miss him and can't wait.

Karen,
How terrible! I can't imagine what this must have been like for all of these families, including yours, dear friend.
How thankful we can all be that this man's horrendous plan did not succeed. It's good that Shannon can't grasp the concept of what happened.
Hoping all went well with Megan's wedding - I am thinking she and Aaron will truly appreciate your gift. Heck, that's not a bad idea for any married couple, no matter how long they've been married!
Happy Birthday to Jim.
Hugs my friend,
Sue
