I got out of work early yesterday to attend the funeral of a friend. "Spoon" was a wonderful man and friend to all who met him. There was standing room only at the service. He had a HARLEY and the group he belonged to took him on one last ride on his Harley after the service. Those of us not riding motorcycles lined the street as they took off--even had a police escort. What a send off. We then went to the ELKS club and the people...lots of food, got to see people I haven't seen in a long time, Spoon would have loved it.
I'm spending the weekend baking and getting things together for Jim while I'm in the hospital. Have one coffee cake in the oven -- 2 more to go and freeze. Then a cake and some mac cheese and not sure what else. The kids are supposed to be here next weekend, they are coming for Jenna's 6th birthday (she lives across the street and Shannon loves to play with her when she is here). I picked up what I hope is a great present for her at the hospital book sale this week. Can't say what it is here, she might find out.
The hospital has these sales throughout the year, some are great, some are so so. This past week was the book sale, I always love that one--they have that one 2 or 3 times a year. I Christmas shop at it. Cookbooks, novels, greeting cards, children's books and more. I bought me 2 new cookbooks--a Paula Dean that I didn't have and a great crock pot cook book. I also bought a cookbook gift for someone--can't say who cause they read this blog. Then I picked up a 5 CD set of 60's music--some great songs on it. The next one is in October so will have to go and Christmas shop some more. The sweat sale should be soon and then the Scoville Jewelry sale will be before Christmas too.
Guess that's all for now. See ya when I get back from my surgery.
