OMG it's been a year and time for the annual marathon dance at my high school. This is the 36th year and these high school kids have raised 3.14 MILLION dollars in 35 years. They are looking to again break their yearly record. I've helped....almost $100.00 in t shirts and hoodies, sponsored a dancer for $50.00 and dropped my change in the containers at the grocery store for the last month....and I'll go over and buy more stuff during the dance and bid on things in the silent auctions. It brings the community together and this year there are 6 recipients from the Cancer Center where I work. There are 11 charities and 30 some individuals that will benefit from whatever is raised. They have 770 high schoolers signed up to dance, plus the 5th graders from all 4 elementary schools get an hour to dance and the kids in the middle school get an hour if they sold more than 100 raffle tickets last month. The elementary school kids raise money also and try to beat each other. It's fun and gets the kids involved at an early age. I'm so PROUD to say I graduated from South High.
I miss my babies...weather and work have kept us from going to Boston. I have made arrangements to have Shannon for a week in April. We can't wait.
Have fun everyone. I will be busy Friday night and all day Saturday with the Marathon Dance, it starts Friday at 7pm and ends Saturday evening. We will go for the opening dances and then again on Saturday to bid on the silent auction and watch the kids. When we are not there we will have it streaming live on the computer and for the first time we can stream on our I phones. They created an app!! Anyone can watch it live from the website: www.shmd.org
