13 Happy Years

Jim and I were married 13 years ago today.  We dated in high school, broke up shortly after I graduated--he was in the Army and wasn't ready to settle down and I was.  We both married other people but remained friends.  The year my mom died we got close again, he had been divorced for quite a few years and I decided that life was too short to be in a loveless marriage.  I moved in with him and then after my divorce was final we married.  Some say FINALLY !!!
We had a fun wedding.  Only family and a couple friends at the wedding.  Rob and my dad walked me down the aisle. I missed my mom so much that day.  Then we had a huge pig roast for all our friends and family.  Invited everyone to come in their shorts and be comfortable.  They roasted a whole pig and some beef, we made all kinds of salads, supplied one keg of beer and a case of wine, and of course soda. There was a beautiful wedding cake for dessert.  Our friends Tom and Julie loaned us their yard for this since they live in the country and only have 1 neighbor to disturb. They had a bon fire going after dark and some people brought their tents and camped out for the night.  We had so much fun.  It was a tough few years, Rob was a teenager and some days more trouble than I care to remember but we have made it through the tough times and have had more good times than bad.  I think being friends for so long helped.

HAPPY ANNIVERSARY TO MY BEST FRIEND.

Karen,
Reading this post brought back memories of the trip you and Jim made to Buffalo...remember that? And I remember how you both told this same story then...it's still beautiful.
Just like you and Jim.
Happy Anniversary my dear friends, and many hugs to you both across the miles.
Sue
