Well she is finally here. Olive Lenore came on Dec 16th, she weighed 8 lbs. 12 ozs and was 19 1/4 inches long. Not quite as big as expected but big enough. She looks just like her daddy except for the darker hair. What a cute little bundle for Christmas. I was in Boston for her birth and then spent the week out there. Not impressed with some of the procedures at Beth Israel but all in all it was a good experience. They have no waiting room on the maternity floors, there is a solarium but you can only get to it AFTER the mom is settled into her room. So Lauren's parents and I were in the main lobby waiting room, having to wait for Rob to tell us anything. She was born about 8:15 in the morning and we didn't get our first glimpse until 2:30pm. We couldn't even get to the nursery. They have a locked unit, so you have to be buzzed in and out and you have to sign in and out and wear a name badge. Visiting hours are from 8-8 everyday so that was nice. They came home on Tuesday and the first night was a little rough but she's been great since then. Yesterday Shannon came and she got to hold her sister -- she loves her. It was so cute, she was softly trying to sing a lullaby to her while mom was getting ready to take her to a doctor appointment. We did presents after they got back home and then I took Shannon home and headed back home myself. WOW what traffic -- took me 1 hr and 45 minutes to get from Rob's to Kristine's which is only 25 miles away. I left his house at 4:15 pm and got home at 9:30pm. I finally hit clear sailing about 2 hours from home. Then it started to rain but at least I beat the snow they had in the Berkshire Mountains.
I had a great time spending a little mom and son time with Rob. We went to breakfast together the last day Lauren was in the hospital. A funky little place in Cambridge, but what great food. I had a gingerbread waffle with pomegranate syrup....YUMMO !! I miss my girls already but will see them soon, I hope. Jim and I want to take a long weekend and go out so he can see Olive himself.
Merry Christmas and Happy New Year everyone.
As a side note. WELCOME Home Laurie, I know mom, dad, Stephen, and Kasey are so glad you are there. My prayers are with all our service men and women and their families who are away from home for the holidays.

Karen,
She's beautiful! I'm so glad you got to spend those first days with everyone, and that Shannon was able to hold her and sing lullabies to her. How nice you had some quality time with Rob also...new daddies sometimes get lost in the shuffle of the excitement.
Thank you for the shout out to Laurie and to our family. Yes, it is a wonderful thing to hug your child after 7 months. Her leave will be over too soon, but we are on the down side now. We can do this. Thank you to you and Jim for your prayers, as always.
Hugs and love to all of you including Olive Lenore and her big sister Shannon.
Sue
